Flowers For Your Wedding

When it comes to flowers, Weddings are one of the largest events. More flowers are used on a single wedding day than any other day of the year. Weddings are big occasions for everyone involved; from the bride all the way down to the caterer - and the flowers are no exception. The flowers are an important part of the wedding. Without the flowers a wedding would be a very drab affair. The flowers add decoration to the wedding location, but they also give the wedding energy and life.

Many times the flowers of a wedding are made up from the favorite blooms of the bride-to-be along with other flowers for the color of the bloom, which will fit in with the dress colors chosen by the bride-to-be. The flowers and the colors of the wedding theme will go hand in hand. It has been said that many look at the wedding flower arrangements online, but most never buy their wedding flower arrangement from the web.

Many brides-to-be don't really have a clue as to the type of arrangement or how they want their bouquet arranged, so they must look at pictures. Because weddings take so much time to plan, and in almost all parts of the planning the bride-to-be must be present, so it stands to reason the bride-to-be does not have a lot of free time when the wedding is in the planning stages.

In order for them to have some ideas regarding the wedding arrangements, the bride needs to look at pictures. Her options there would be to visit the florist and look at the pictures they have in books, or they can look on the web. The web can be accessed at all hours of the day or night. Many smaller florists close by 5 or 6pm and don't open again until 9 or 10am the following day. The bride-to-be will find it easier to find time to look on the web. She will be able to look at the pictures several times before making her final decision. She can then print out the pictures to take to the local florist or to give to her wedding planner.

It is unclear why more brides-to-be don't order their wedding flowers online. Maybe they are not aware of how an FTD florist works. Maybe she believes the UPS or the FedEx driver will be the ones who will deliver her wedding arrangements to the chapel. However, if she lives in the Burlington, Ontario area of Canada, the florist on the web she is looking at could also be the local florist she chooses for her wedding arrangements. Brant Florist in Ontario has an extensive web site, which includes wedding arrangement as well as a location close by in Burlington.

Cemetery Flowers Are Appreciated by the Family

In a perfect world no one would ever face the death of someone they love, but death is a fact of life and people we love and care about pass. Sending your condolences can be done nicely with cemetery flowers, which the family will appreciate.

No matter how desperately you want to be there for the family, that can always be achieved and a beautiful funeral floral arrangement can show the family how sorry you are for their loss. Whether you choose cemetery flowers, a funeral wreath, a sympathy floral arrangement, or burial flowers, you should consider a cemetery florist that specializes in flowers for a funeral. Although all florists can make you a funeral flower bouquet, a cemetery florist can often provide more options and do a better job of custom floral arrangements.

Cemetery flowers can be a live floral arrangement or a silk flower arrangement. Burial flowers are delivered at the time of the burial; however you may also want to send headstone flowers or memorial flowers long after the funeral. These are a wonderful way of remembering the individual who has passed.

Silk flower arrangements will last much longer than live flowers for funerals so if you are looking for longevity artificial flower arrangements are indeed a good option. You can ask the florist to design a bouquet for you or you can choose from one of the many FTD bouquets. If you use an online florist it is very easy to choose funeral flowers. That's because most times you can view their online catalogue and thus find the bouquet that you desire.

Mums, gladiolas, and carnations are commonly used in funeral flower arrangements. They are beautiful and they are affordable so for those on a budget they are an option to consider. Of course there are many other flowers to choose from such as delphiniums, hydrangeas, and roses. There are cemetery flowers available for all budgets.

Casket flowers are traditionally sent by the immediate family directly to the funeral home. Because of the urgency you will have to choose flowers that the florist has available to them. You can still choose from a wide array of flowers.

Either an online florist or local florist should be able to deliver funeral flowers to the funeral home, to the church, the cemetery, or the home. Cremation flowers, service flowers, and wake flowers have become quite popular in recent years and the same options apply to these as other funeral arrangements.

Most people know that florists will deliver live or silk flower arrangements directly to the grave at the time of the funeral, but many aren't aware of other services many florists offer such as providing live floral plantings at the grave site, or grave site maintenance and grooming, which has proven to be a very valuable service to many.

Most cemeteries are large and often they are understaffed so loved ones gravesites don't always get the attention they should when it comes to maintenance and grooming. When you contract a florist to take care of these tasks you can relax knowing things are getting taken care in a timely manner, and that your loved ones gravesite is not being neglected.

Be Sure to choose a florist that can offer you all the services you need from cemetery flowers to gravesite maintenance.

Shawn Ryan, the florist with Great Grave Flowers, earned a master's degree in Social Work and studied plant biology as well as human. His ability to express compassion and foster love through his flower bouquets is simply extraordinary. Shawn offers a free consultation with your order for those who desire. You can contact Shawn or place an order at http://www.GreatGrave.com

How to Order Wedding Flowers From an Online Florist

Getting married soon? You'll be amazed at the crucial role wedding flowers play in your decor. But keep in mind, there are so many to choose from that it can be difficult to narrow your choices to one certain type of flower or plant. Viewing and ordering fresh flowers from a local florist website will help you pick and choose the flowers you want without pressure.

You can easily visit an online florist site any time-day or night-from the comfort of your home. View online flower arrangements with a close friend or family member and welcome their ideas. Keep an open mind as you view all the types of wedding flowers, and create a "mind picture" of what your wedding decor will look like with various types of flowers.

Order Flowers Online for the Wedding Ceremony

As an important part of your ceremony decor, wedding flowers can be used to define the wedding colors, freshen and brighten the auditorium, or give a spring-like look and feel for outdoor weddings. Buy flowers or plants that blend well with your other decorations and colors. Consider decorating with curtain clusters, vows arrangements, companion pieces and chair clusters. Popular types of wedding flowers include calla lilies, Gerber daisies, orchids, roses and tulips. Also choose wedding flower foliage that will blend with your flowers and colors. Ivy is an old-time favorite for weddings, but you might also consider other foliage such as steel grass, leatherleaf fern, phormium, or aspidistra leaves.

Bouquets and Boutonnieres

Ordering from an online florist also makes it easy to select your bride and bridesmaid bouquets. Flower bouquets and the men's boutonnieres should match the wedding colors as well as the style of dresses to be worn. Small bouquets work well with full dresses while larger bouquets can add tremendous color and style if the bride and/or bridesmaids are wearing shorter, less full dresses, or even off-the shoulder or sleeveless dresses. Bouquets are prominently displayed during the wedding procession/march as well as during the entire vow-taking moment of the ceremony. Your flower girls will also need a bouquet or a basket of flowers...so be sure to add these to your shopping list.

View bouquets online or visit a flower shop nearby to get bouquet ideas. They come in various sizes and styles, from small, round shapes to large, crescent-shaped bouquets with strands of foliage hanging over your hands. If browsing a flower shop in your area, be sure to hold the bouquet as you would during the wedding, and view yourself in a mirror if possible. This will give you a better idea of how the bouquets will look and feel during the wedding.

Don't Forget the Reception

Choose the same or similar flowers for the reception decor. Wedding flowers can be used to decorate guest tables and even enhance the cake. Flowers also make beautiful centerpieces for the wedding table or gift table. Add a few pedestal flower arrangements near the entrance and around the reception hall to complete your decor.

Keep in mind that there are no set rules on choosing wedding flowers. An online florist website enables you to browse and get ideas without being in a rush. You can use your favorite flowers or colors, or base your wedding decor on a particular theme...such as a tropical wedding or a Christmas wedding. If you don't have a favorite type of flower, choose seasonal flowers according to when your wedding will take place.

Look for an online florist that's an FTD member, and ask about possible flower delivery to your wedding location. Flower shops can often deliver flowers the day of or the day before the wedding, according to your needs. Shop early to ensure your flowers will be delivered on time. Most florists offer a variety of other services, such as flower delivery for sympathy gifts for funerals, birthday flowers, anniversary flowers, etc. This means the florist will likely need plenty of notice to schedule your flower delivery.

Shop at an online florist that's located in your city just in case you need to stop by to pick up a few items before the wedding. For instance, if you live in Cincinnati, look for a Cincinnati florist website. Having the florist close by will give you peace of mind in case extra flowers are needed, or one of the bouquets or boutonnieres is missing.

Use these ideas to find beautiful wedding flowers through an online florist while saving time and money!

History of Flower Giving

Modern day flower delivery is merely an extension of a long history of flower giving as a token of admiration, love and friendship that dates back to ancient Egypt. Flowers were symbols of beauty and were used to gift royalty in ancient times. Ancient Egyptians also used the oils from the flowers to create perfumes.

In modern times, Valentines Day has been the traditional day for giving flowers and dates back to the middle ages and was once considered to be a Christian holiday. There is a history of people having recognized Valentines Day as February 14 as far back as the middle ages with evidence that it existed much longer than that.

In Victorian times, gift giving became very much in vogue for this holiday that was celebrated between sweethearts. While flowers were given as gifts, cards were also created to be given to a sweetheart on this day. Towards the middle of the 20th century, it became popular for other people to celebrate this holiday.

Flower delivery dates back to the early 20th century when florists began to not just sell flowers but deliver them in boxes to those for whom they were ordered. The custom was for the person who wanted the flower delivery to send a telegram to the florist that was close to the flower delivery destination and request a flower delivery. There were no networks of florists at this time.

In the late 1960s, as flower delivery became more prevalent for holidays, especially when it came to Valentines Day, florists began to network with one another formally and formed FTD - which was the first florist network. This meant that you could place an order with your florist for a flower delivery and they could give the order to someone in the network that was close to the delivery point.

Telephone flower networks made this even easier in the 1980s and increased the ability to get flower delivery across the miles on the same day. You no longer had to go into the florist to place an order; you could just pick up the phone and conveniently get a flower delivery.

Of all of the flower delivery that was once used, only the telephone delivery and local florist delivery options are used today along with internet ordering. Internet ordering is one step better than ordering by phone as you actually get to see the flowers that you are ordering for a flower delivery. Flower giving goes way back in time, only the method of ordering has changed.

Types of Online Flower Shops and Seasonal Flowers

There are three types of florists. The first are Actual Florists who operate at all levels, from a small "Mum and pop" retail outlet to a third party website from which they proliferate to operate at national and international levels. They have experienced staff and specialist florists who handle every aspect of their business. They adopt flowers -by- wire deliveries ensuring each floral arrangement is custom designed and delivered by arrangement with their local franchisee. In Ottawa and the USA, the clients always prefer arranged flowers while in Europe the clients accept unarranged flowers also. Flower shippers are the next main type of florists and they include floral growers, brokers and shippers including online marketers who specialize in shipping unarranged flowers which work out much cheaper for the final consumer. The third type of flower shops are the general retailers, wire services, middle men, affiliates and re sellers etc.

One often sees the acronym FTD before the word florist. FTD stands for Florists' Trans world Deliveries.. Started in the early 1900s as a non profit confederation of 15 florists who came to an understanding to service each other's customers in the concerned cites /towns through the then existing fastest mode of communication, the telegraph. The mercurial messenger God in Greek mythology, Mercury was selected as their Logo. Ottawa and the USA have about 16000 florists FTD and there are 45000 florists FTD in 154 countries in the world processing more than 12 million flower orders per year. This facility has given such an impetus to the online flower shops that their business has multiplied several folds and their efficiency in delivery has gained tremendously.

The seasonal break up of flowers are divided into Fall (Autumn) flowers -(September to December) which include rich orange, golden yellow and red flowers like chrysanthemums, roses, sun flower etc. The Christmas flowers (25th Dec) are mostly red and white carnations and asters. Valentine flowers (Feb 14th) feature red roses and carnations depicting passion and pink roses and lumonium representing happiness .Easter (April4th) flowers are yellow and mauve daisies, carnations, blue statice and ferns. Spring (March-June) flowers are tulips, daisies and asters. Summer (June -Sep) flowers are roses, miniature red carnations, red alstroemeris, button pomes, purple statice and foliage.

Two of the other important days in the calendar are reserved for Mothers' day (9th May) when we would do well to please our mothers by giving them a bouquet of flowers with soft and bright pink carnations blue iris and yellow daisies. Fathers' day (20th June) is reserved as a tribute to your father and a gift in the form of a bouquet of red and yellow flowers like lilies, gerberas, and roses in bold colors would make him very happy indeed.

What Is A FTD Florist And When Do I Need To Use Him?

The history of FTD florists goes back to the year 1910, whereupon over a dozen American florists decided to serve each others' out of town customers by exchanging orders for flowers through telegraph. Thus, Florists' Telegraph Delivery (FTD) was born.

This company would adopt the famous Mercury Man as its logo in the year 1914. In the year 1965, the company became international. The present day Florists' Transworld Delivery company is based in Downers Grove, Illinois. The two main divisions are its consumer business and its floral business. The former concentrates on selling flowers and gift items through its numerous web sites. Then there is the floral business, which sells software, computer services, and freshly cut flowers to affiliated web sites and florists all across the nation. This makes flower delivery a lot easier - you can now get flowers delivered virtually anywhere at any time.

Florists' Transworld Delivery was initially formed as a retailers' cooperative. The idea was to be able to send flowers the day they were ordered from a remote location through utilizing the FTD network. Through telegrams, flowers were delivered the same day in different cities across America using this sophisticated network.

Today, the Internet takes care of a lot of that work for us. FTD florists currently utilize what is known as the Mercury Network. This network processes around fifteen million flower orders each year. About fifty thousand FTD affiliates are situated in 154 countries around the globe. About twenty thousand of those affiliates are located in North America alone. The development of the Mercury Network was the work of telecommunications entrepreneur John D. Goeken, the founder of MCI Communications.

There are many occasions on which you might wish to use the comprehensive FTD network. We are not always able to be with our loved ones on those special occasions when we wish to remind them that we care about them. This is why the FTD was invented. Say, for instance, that you live in a different city from your mother and are not able to be there with her on Mother's Day. The FTD network can arrange to have flowers sent to her directly - even at short notice.

FTD florists are there for you when you need them. If you want to give your loved ones a pleasant surprise, make sure they get flowers in those events when you are not able to appear with them personally.
